The first of the metropolitan mid-week race meetings in Sydney this week was held at Warwick Farm with seven events on the card.  It was a quiet day for TBNSW members who recorded 2 third placings on the day.

TBNSW members opened their account with a third placing in Race 2 the Jack Gannon Maiden Plate.  Volkaspray(NZ)(Volksraad(GB)-Spraypoint(NZ)) was successful from Imbudo (Danehill(USA)-Sybeel(NZ)) with Zefta (Zeditave-Sally Lou) bred by Burst Pty Limited in third position.

A third placing for TBNSW members in Race 6 the Phil Novacevski Handicap.  Pawarna (Tierce-Pensiamo) was too strong for Angel Fish (Dolphin Street(FR)-Kalo Bettae) with Hover (Eagle Eyed(USA)-Set Aside) bred by J W Kelly Suffolk Vale & Co in third place.

In Sydney 24.09.03

The second of the metropolitan mid-week race meetings in Sydney was held at Canterbury Park with eight events on the card.  TBNSW members recorded 2 winners, 3 second placings and 3 third placings on the day.

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 1 the Supa Iga Handicap.  Bit of Knowledge (Knowledge-Caybria) won from Rock Diva (Woodman(USA)-Canny Lass) bred by Mrs S E Suduk and Mr J M Ryan with Oh So Royal (Danzero-Zaroyale(NZ)) third.

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle as well as providing the third placing in Race 3 the Mars Bar Plate.  Bellow (Octagonal(NZ)-Vocalist) bred by Woodlands Stud was too strong for Luhaif (Octagonal(NZ)-Simoon) with Always Winners (Arimdale-Toujours Dansant) bred by Riverdene Stud Pty Limited in third position.

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 5 the Campbell’s Cash and Carry Handicap.  Bayraqdaar (Unbridled’s Song(USA)-Park Heiress(IRE)) was successful from Octzano (Octagonal(NZ)-Ginzano) bred by V & VM Thoroughbreds Pty Limited with Escape to Mars (End Sweep(USA)-Marcia) third.

Second and third placings for TBNSW members in Race 6 the Australian Liquor Marketers Handicap.  Leg Irons (Yallah Prince-Tautelle) scored from Penetrator (Dehere(USA)-Dupion) bred by Gooree Park Stud with Ashworth (Royal Academy(USA)-Too Darn Hot) bred by Mr A E Vrisakis in third place.

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle and recorded a third placing in Race 7 the Metcash Handicap.  Magic Marvo (Bite the Bullet(USA)-Day County) bred by Mr I K Smith  was too good for Pensive Warfare (Strategic-Pensacola) with Sir Covet (Covetous-Silent Dawn) bred by Kentucky Thoroughbreds in third position.

In Melbourne

As there was no metropolitan mid-week race meeting in Melbourne this week, the Brisbane meeting will be covered instead.

In Brisbane

Eagle Farm was the venue for metropolitan mid-week racing in Brisbane with eight events on the card.   TBNSW members recorded a winner, 3 second placings and 3 third placings on the day.

A third placing for TBNSW members in Race 1 the Mode Lounge Handicap.  Galactic Warrior (Admiralty(USA)-Bay of Pearls) was successful from Busking (Encosta de Lago-Winifred’s Prayer) with Huzzah (Strategic-Hallelujah) bred by Woodlands Stud in third position.

Second and third placings for TBNSW members in Race 2 the Rough Habit Bar Handicap.  Nediym’s Image (Nediym(IRE)-Picnic Party) scored narrowly from Ranks (Canny Lad-Arrange) bred by Woodlands Stud with Strong Suit (Snippets-Laffy) bred by Reavill No 1 Partnership in third place.

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle in Race 5 the Members’ Bar Handicap when Classic Manner saluted.  Classic Manner (Regal Classic(CAN)-Port Manner) bred by Mr G J Fischl was too good for Call to Honour (Johann Quatz(FR)-Singing Squaw) with Ultimate Force (Clang-Brybelle) third.

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 6 the Guineas Room Handicap.  Pride of Paris (Buck’s Pride-Rue de Paris) won from Rust (Grand Lodge(USA)-Verica) bred by Woodlands Stud with Cedar Lodge (Matsqui-Mustin Belle) in third place.

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 7 the QTC Functions & Catering Handicap.  Masindor (Banning-Mawenzi(NZ)) was successful from Silver Switch (Switch in Time(IRE)-Silver’s Sister) bred by Stratheden Stud with Avon Jewel (Just Awesome-Harlane) third.

TBNSW members finished the day with a third placing in Race 8 the Strawberry Road Restaurant Handicap.  Call the Hunter (Lion Hunter-Operator) scored from Posh Touch (Touch of Vanity-Maganey) with Stratus (Octagonal(NZ)-Effervescence) bred by Woodlands Stud in third position.

Black type racing

Black type racing was held at Newcastle in New South Wales on Thursday with the running of the Group 3 Spring Stakes and the Group 3 Newcastle Gold Cup.

The first of the black type races was the Group 3 Spring Stakes run over 1600 metres for three-year-olds and it was a second placing for TBNSW members.  Allgunadoit(NZ)(Haayil-Saving Grace) was successful from Niello (Octagonal(NZ)-Shadea(NZ)) bred by Woodlands Stud with Danbird (Danehill(USA)-Fitting) in third place.

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle as well as providing the third placing in the Group 3 Newcastle Gold Cup.  Comforts (Night Shift(USA)-Cushy) bred by Woodlands Stud was too strong for My Tally (Johann Quatz(FR)-Fabuleux(NZ)) with Daneborogh (Danehill(USA)-Kingston Red) bred by Pitt Place Pty Limited in third position.

Dance the Waves (Hennessy(USA)-Timeless Winds) was successful from Rockin Roller (Danewin-Be Bop A Lula(NZ)) with Shadow Hawk (Unbridled’s Song(USA)-All the Rave) bred by Milburn Creek Thoroughbreds in third position.

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle in Race 2 The Live It Up at your Local Handicap when Grand Estime saluted. Grand Estime (Last Tycoon(IRE)-Bislotto) bred by Mr G Harvey was too strong for Waugh (Opera Prince-Penny Lace) with Kitchener Kid (Opera Prince-Our Marguerite) third.

A great result for TBNSW members in Race 3 the Wizard Newtown Handicap providing the trifecta in the event. Generosa (NZ)(Generous(IRE)-Cousins) bred by Mr J B Cummings was successful from Lustre (Quest for Fame(GB)-Perle) bred by Woodlands Stud with Snohalo (Flying Spur-Voregal) bred by the Superhorse Trust in third place.

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 4 the Richardson & Wrench Manly Handicap. Costagem (Encosta de Lago-Diamond Band) won from Paraway (Marauding(NZ)-Whisked) bred by Mr O P Tait and Mrs S S Nivison with Gahela Baby (Monongahela(USA)-Sonic Star) third.

TBNSW members recorded a second placing in Race 5 the Wizard Surry Hills Handicap. Ya Ya Effendi(NZ)(Blues Traveller(IRE)-Ken’s Fortune(NZ)) was successful from Gobi (Desert King(IRE)-Alpine Villa(IRE)) bred by Mr O P Tait and Mrs S S Nivison with Gastellan (Zoffany(USA)-Bali Breeze(NZ)) in third place.

A quinella for TBNSW members in Race 6 the Evan Evans Handicap. Cataclysm (Marauding(NZ)-Chaparra) bred by Woodlands Stud saluted from Fiammarosa (Danehill(USA)-Shindig(NZ)) bred by Mrs S E Suduk with Highest (Marscay-Consular Belle(CAN)) in third position.

Black type racing

Black type racing was held at Newcastle in New South Wales with the running of the listed Cameron Handicap. The NSW bred Archave (Archway(IRE)-Gentle Maria) was too strong for Britt’s Best(NZ)(Danehill(USA)-Bal Des Sirenes(IRE)) with Stoway (Geiger Counter(USA)-Travel Light(NZ)) third.

In Melbourne

Sandown Lakeside was the venue for mid-week race meeting in Melbourne with eight events on the card. TBNSW members recorded a second placing and 3 third placings on the day.

A third placing for TBNSW members in Race 2 the Lady Mogambo Super Vobis Handicap. Royal Mask (Royal Academy(USA)-Duk Duk) was successful from Arch of Capri (Archway(IRE)-Blue Capri) with Dubai Pearl (Charnwood Forest(IRE)-Eajaab(GB)) bred by Emirates Park Pty Limited in third position.

TBNSW members recorded a third placing in Race 3 the Beau Sovereign Super Vobis Handicap. Delzao (Encosta de Lago-Amanusa) scored from Innocent Laughter (Jeune(GB)-Happy Jester) with Street Cad (Canny Lad-Clochard(NZ)) bred by Woodlands Stud in third place.

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 4 the El Golea Handicap. Lord Volksraad(NZ)(Volksraad(GB)-Morangie(NZ)) won from Mister Kaye (Snippets-Marks Gain) bred by Corumbene Stud with Abyssinian (Racer’s Edge-Lunar News(NZ)) third.

A third placing for TBNSW members in Race 7 the Saxony Handicap. Elwood(NZ)(Touching Wood(USA)-Skai Glory(NZ)) was successful from Team Heritage (Encosta de Lago-Our Saratoga(NZ)) with Pindari Prince (Toy Pindarri(NZ)-Princess of Ross) bred by Mr W J and Mrs C L McCullagh in third position.

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 3 the Hyland Race Colours Handicap. Sunset Run (End Sweep(USA)-Skating) won from Sam Sung a Song (Timber Country(USA)-Centollua) bred by Mr G Harvey with Escape to Mars (End Sweep(USA)-Marcia) in third place.

TBNSW members recorded a second placing in Race 5 the Winning Edge Presentations Handicap. Red Oog (Brief Truce(USA)-Mary Julia) scored from Magic Marvo (Bite the Bullet(USA)-Day County) bred by Mr I K Smith with Charlie Won’t (Carry the Crown(CAN)-Princesco(NZ)) third.

Second and third placings for TBNSW members in Race 6 the Safilo Eyewear Handicap. Run Just Run (Just Awesome-Dolly Dewdrop) was successful from Major (Zeditave-Discriminate) bred by Burst Pty Limited with Azraq (Danehill Dancer(IRE)-Rhapsody in Blue) bred by Cescastle Pty Limited in third position.

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle when Ashworth saluted in Race 7 the Cabe Group Handicap. Ashworth (Royal Academy(USA)-Too Darn Hot(NZ)) bred by Mr A E Vrisakis was too good for Bold Youth (Dehere(USA)-Eternal Youth) with Navy Beat (Song of Tara(IRE)-Anchors Aweigh) third.

TBNSW members finished the day on a winning note when Vanquished scored in Race 8 the Michael Hansell Signs Handicap. Vanquished (Hector Protector(USA)-Exuberance) bred by Mrs J S Mackay was too strong for Flying Crown (Beautiful Crown(USA)-Recitals) with Our Girl Jo (Kingston Seattle(USA)-Benny’s Bell) in third place.

Doomben was the venue for metropolitan mid-week racing in Brisbane with nine events on the card. TBNSW members recorded 2 winners, 4 second placings and 3 third placings on the day.

TBNSW members recorded second and third placings in Race 2 the Wyndham Estate Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap. Chiquitita (El Moxie(USA)-Rosy Babe) won from Reveries (Octagonal(NZ)-Comply) with Habitue (Canny Lady-Good Mixer) in third position. Both second and third placegetters were bred by Woodlands Stud.

Second and third placings for TBNSW members in Race 5 the Parella Tiles Entires and Geldings Maiden Handicap. Todman Avenue (Quest for Fame(GB)-Kiss In Vain) was successful from Mainland (Scenic(IRE)-Sisterhood) bred by Swettenham Stud with Tito (Quest for Fame(GB)-Partisan) bred by Woodlands Stud in third place.

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 7 the Adrians Chartered Accountants Class 3 Handicap. Star Groom (Success Express(USA)-Platonic) won from San Franfrisco (Frisco View(USA)-Spectacular Grey) bred by Mr D L Nancarrow with Doctor Blanch (Jugah(USA)-Shieling(IRE)) third.

Stormy Joe (Hurricane Sky-Una Donna(NZ)) bred by Dr J D Woolridge was too good for Scarlex(NZ)(Last Tycoon(IRE)-Helen(NZ)) with Tahitian Star (Skilful Star-Hula Gal) bred by Cescastle Pty Limited in third position.

A quinella for TBNSW members in Race 9 the Wyndham Estate Bin 555 Class 5 Handicap. Storm Scene (Scenic(IRE)-Cloudlet) bred by Mr L Young was successful from Star Sensation (Zeditave-Maya) bred by Springdale Stud with Press (Quest for Fame(GB)-Musak(NZ)) in third place.

The metropolitan mid-week race meeting in Sydney this week was held on the Kensington track with seven events on the card. It was a great day for TBNSW members who recorded 5 winners, 4 second placings and 3 third placings.

TBNSW members were off to a flying start providing the quinella in the opening event the Kogarah Handicap. Mimzical (El Moxie(USA)-Beautiful Mimzar) was successful from Dubai Ruby (Secret Savings(USA)-Streak to Glory(USA)) with Ndereba (Spinning World(USA)-Super Marathon(NZ)) third. Both the winner and the second placegetter were bred by Emirates Park Pty Limited.

It was the winner’s circle for TBNSW members in Race 2 the Brighton Handicap when Luskin L’Etoile scored. Luskin L’Etoile (Luskin Star-Starway Lady) bred by Mr P M Kite was too good for Lilly O’Reilly(NZ)(O’Reilly(NZ)-Chats(NZ)) with Beryl (Bite the Bullet(USA)-Bespangled) in third place.

TBNSW members recorded second and third placings in Race 3 the Arncliffe Maiden Plate. Fangio (Danehill(USA)-Catnipped) won from Lustre (Quest for Fame(GB)-Perle) bred by Woodlands Stud with Crown Appeal (Beautiful Crown(USA)-Sharp and Keen) bred by Mr A J Bowcock in third position.

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle as well as providing the third placing in Race 4 the Carlton Handicap. Rust (Grand Lodge(USA)-Verica) bred by Woodlands Stud scored from Centillate (Cenchire-Killara Park) with Newington Style (Desert Style(IRE)-Pagan Dance) bred by Yarraman Park Stud in third place.

A quinella for TBNSW members in Race 5 the Rockdale Handicap. Freeze (Marscay-Snowdrift(FR)) bred by Stratheden Stud was successful from Duomo (Flying Spur-Treasury Gardens) bred by Vinery Australia with Sadler’s Song (Song of Tara(IRE)- Alquouette) third.

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle in Race 6 the Bexley Handicap when Squish saluted. Squish (Luskin Star-Ooze) bred by J W Kelly Suffolk Vale & Co gave his sire his second win for the day when he scored most impressively from Lapwing (Free Flyer(IRE)- Unrocel Lap) with Hail Stone(NZ)(Bigstone(IRE)-Windy Lindy) third.

TBNSW members finished the day with second and third placings in Race 7 the Hurstville Handicap. My Chanticleer (Desert King(IRE)-How Jaded(NZ)) won from Logger (Timber Country(USA)-Later) bred by Gooree Park Stud with Barker Boy (Brief Truce(USA)- Chieftainess(USA)) bred by Miss A O Raymond in third position.

Black type racing

Black type racing was held at Wyong in New South Wales with the running of the listed Mona Lisa Plate. Secret Gift (Encosta de Lago-Cherished) was successful from Gentle Genius (Danehill(USA)-Darazina(FR) with Plain Crazy (Bite the Bullet(USA)-What Price Glory) third.

In Melbourne
