Falbrav takes title

Falbrav has secured top honours in the inaugural BHB Middle Distance Championship with his win in the Group 1 Juddmonte International Stakes at York. Falbrav (IRE)(Fairy King(USA)-Gift of the Night(USA)) finished with a total of 24 points, 4 points clear of Nayef on 20 points with Alamshar and Kris Kin both on 14 points.

 

Sulamani records 100th Group/Grade 1 Winner for Godolphin

When Sulamani was successful in the Group 1 Arlington Million last weekend, he provided his owners Godolphin with their 100th Group/Grade 1 victory, nine years after Balanchine recorded their first win in June 1994. No other owner has achieved this feat in such a short time.

 

Godolphin’s successes have been in 11 different countries and over three continents with 42 in the United Kingdom, 13 in France, 12 in America, 10 in Ireland, 9 in Italy, 5 in Dubai, 5 in Germany and one each in Canada, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore. Godolphin has recorded 4 wins in the Dubai World Cup the world’s richest race, three wins in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, 5 wins in Ireland’s Champion Stakes, 4 wins in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes and 3 wins in the Breeders Cup.

Rest of the World Team wins Shergar Cup

The Shergar Cup competition at Royal Ascot was taken out by the Rest of the World Team. The team comprising Italian Frankie Dettori, Australian Shane Dye, Swede Fredrik Johansson, German Andreas Suborics, Japanese Yutaka Take and South African Doug Whyte scored a 146-98 victory over the Great Britain/Ireland team.

 

Kingmambo’s full brother to stand in Zimbabwe

The four-year-old full brother to Kingmambo, Kitalpha will stand in Zimbabwe for the Southern Hemisphere breeding season following his sale to a syndicate led by John Harris. Kitalpha (Mr Prospector-Miesque) did not race following an injury whilst in training with Henry Cecil.

Octagonal records an Irish Stakes winner

Woodlands Stud would be pleased to hear of the success of Octagonal three-year-old filly Dossier in the listed King Charlemagne Platinum Stakes in Ireland recently. Dossier (Octagonal(NZ)-Papering(IRE)) was having only her second race start and remains undefeated scoring by a neck from Twiggy’s Sister, who is by Flying Spur, giving Australasian sires the quinella in the event.
