Hong Kong International Race DayThe
Hong Kong Jockey Club held their International Race Day on Sunday, 14
December 2003 with a massive crowd in attendance.
In
the four major races conducted, Irish breeders recorded two wins, New
Zealand one win and Australia the other winner.
The Australian success in the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint, was great
for TBNSW members as the
winner, Silent Witness was bred by it’s member Mr Ian Smith of Edinburgh Park Stud.
TBNSW members Emirates
Park Pty Limited recorded
a third placing in the Group 1 Hong Kong Cup with Elegant Fashion.
The
results of the four races are as follows:
John
Size has increased his lead again in the Trainer’s Ranking and it now
stands at 5 wins. Size has
recorded 30 winners, 17 seconds, 16 thirds, 23 fourths and 12 fifths
from 193 runners. John Moore
is in second place with 25 winners, 13 seconds, 16 thirds, 9 fourths and
12 fifths from 165 runners. David Hayes is in fourth position with 18
winners, 21 seconds, 18 thirds, 17 fourths and 22 fifths from 202
runners.
Douglas
Whyte’s has increased his lead in the Jockey’s Ranking. Whyte has 44
winners, 41 seconds, 27 thirds, 22 fourths and 24 fifths from 228 rides,
a lead of 18 wins. Shane Dye
is in second place with 26 winners, 22 seconds, 21 thirds, 25 fourths
and 22 fifths from 212 rides. Dwayne
Dunn is in seventh position with 15 winners, 13 seconds, 10 thirds, 20
fourths and 17 fifths from 179 rides.
Craig Williams is in ninth place with 10 winners, 11 seconds, 18
thirds, 16 fourths and 17 fifths from 169 rides.
All
statistics are current up to the race meeting on 17/12/03.
Shadai Farm announce stud fee for Falbrav Falbrav
(IRE) (Fairy King-Gift of the Night) who retired following his success
in the Group 1 Hong Kong Cup will commence his stud career in the
northern hemisphere at Shadai Farm in Japan at a fee of ¥4,000,000.
South Africa Equine Influenza outbreak The
Milnerton training complex in Cape Town has been isolated following an
outbreak of equine influenza. Several
major feature races of the Cape Summer Season have been cancelled.
Viking Ruler to Shuttle The
Group 1 winner and first season sire Viking Ruler (Danehill(USA)-Tristalove)
is to reverse shuttle to Ireland for the northern hemisphere season.
Viking Ruler stands at Cambridge Stud in New Zealand and has
covered a book of some 100 mares in his debut season at stud.

Hong
Kong International Jockeys’ Championship to Damien Oliver
For
the first time ever, a Southern Hemisphere based jockey has taken out
the Hong Kong International Jockeys’ Championship.
Australian jockey Damien Oliver recorded a one point victory, 20
points to 19, over American jockey Victor Espinoza and collected a prize
cheque of HK$200,000. Damien
recorded a win with Ace Academy for fellow Australian John Size, a
second placing on Zerubbabel and a fifth place on Indubitably Bliss.

Kong Racing Update John
Size has increased his lead to 4 wins in the Trainer’s Ranking over
John Moore. Size has
recorded 28 winners, 17 seconds, 16 thirds, 20 fourths and 10 fifths
from 176 runners. Moore, in
second place, has recorded 24 winners, 11 seconds, 15 thirds, 7 fourths
and 12 fifths from 153 runners. David Hayes is in fourth position with
17 winners, 20 seconds, 15 thirds, 16 fourths and 19 fifths from 186
runners.
Douglas
Whyte’s lead has narrowed slightly in the Jockey’s Ranking. Whyte
has 41 winners, 36 seconds, 26 thirds, 20 fourths and 23 fifths from 211
rides, a lead of 16 from Shane Dye in second place, with 25 winners, 22
seconds, 21 thirds, 22 fourths and 18 fifths from 197 rides.
Dwayne Dunn is in sixth position with 15 winners, 13 seconds, 9
thirds, 20 fourths and 16 fifths from 173 rides.
Craig Williams is in ninth place with 10 winners, 9 seconds, 17
thirds, 15 fourths and 16 fifths from 162 rides.

Vale - Victory Dance Victory
Dance(IRE)(Sadler’s Wells(USA)-Tree of Knowledge(IRE)) has been put
down at Ohahu Stud in New Zealand having failed to respond to treatment
for a serious leg infection. Victory
Dance sired 43 winners from 68 runners and has nine crops of racing age.
His best performed progeny are Australian Group 1 winner Victory
Smile, Pillage ‘n’ Plunder and the New Zealand Group 1 winner Cinder
Bella.

from 165 runners. Moore, in
second place, has recorded 22 winners, 10 seconds, 14 thirds, 6 fourths
and 12 fifths from 141 runners. David Hayes has moved to third position
with 17 winners, 20 seconds, 13 thirds, 15 fourths and 17 fifths from
175 runners.
Douglas
Whyte maintains his lead in the Jockey’s Ranking with a 19 win margin
from Shane Dye. Whyte has 41
winners, 35 seconds, 25 thirds, 20 fourths and 20 fifths from 204 rides.
Shane Dye is in second place with 22 winners, 21 seconds, 19
thirds, 22 fourths and 17 fifths from 184 rides.
Dwayne Dunn is in seventh position with 13 winners, 13 seconds, 8

Pentire to return to Europe Former
champion racehorse Pentire(GB) is set to return to Europe for the
2004-2005 northern hemisphere breeding season.
Pentire(GB)(Be My Guest-Gull Nook) will stand at Gestut Isarland
near Munich in Germany at a fee of €7,500.
Pentire (GB) retired to the Shadai Stallion Station in
Hokkaido Japan in 1997 for the northern hemisphere breeding season and
has shuttled to New Zealand for the southern hemisphere breeding
seasons. From his first
three crops to race, Pentire has recorded 15 stakes horses including 9
stakes winners. His progeny
have won in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, England, South Africa, Hong
Kong and Macau.

Dance City takes Japan Cup Tap
Dance City recorded his first Group 1 victory when he was successful in
the Group 1 Japan Cup in Tokyo recently.
Tap Dance City(USA)(Pleasant Tap-All Dance) led all the way to
score a most impressive win by nine lengths from That’s The Plenty (JPN)
(Dance in the Dark-Bubble Prospector) with Symboli Kris S(USA)(Kris
S-Tee Kay) three-quarters of a length away in third position.
