WEEKEND RACING - 23/08/03

This weekend black type racing was held at Randwick and Caulfield. Royal Randwick was the venue in Sydney for the Group 2 Warwick Stakes, the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes, the Group 2 Up and Coming Stakes, the listed Toy Show Quality and the listed Show County Quality. Caulfield was the venue in Melbourne for the Group 2 J J Liston Stakes, the listed Vain Stakes, the listed Quezette Stakes and the listed Cockram Stakes.

 

TBNSW members were successful in the Group 2 Warwick Stakes, the Group 2 J J Liston Stakes and the listed Vain Stakes.

 

In Sydney

Royal Randwick was the venue for black type racing in Sydney on Saturday with the running of the Group 2 Warwick Stakes, the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes, the Group 2 Up and Coming Stakes, the listed Toy Show Quality and the listed Show County Quality on a nine event card. TBNSW members recorded 4 winners (including a Group 2), 3 second placings and 5 third placings on the day.

 

TBNSW members were off to a flying start providing the quinella in Race 1 the Fitness First Plate. Daneborogh (Danehill(USA)-Kingston Red) bred by Pitt Place Pty Limited was successful from Comforts (Night Shift(USA)-Cushy) bred by Woodlands Stud with Rocksinga(NZ)(Danasinga-Rock the Kasbar(NZ)) third.

 

Another quinella for TBNSW members in Race 2 the Sydney City Lexus Transitional Handicap. Ariante (Filante(NZ)-Arietta) bred by Mr R N Moclair won from Domine (Strategic-Hallelujah) bred by Woodlands Stud with My Tally (Johann Quatz(FR)-Fabuleux(NZ)) third.

 

A third placing for TBNSW members in Race 3 the Marriott Hotels Australia Plate. Spading (St Covet-Crackapon(NZ)) scored from Sea Sioux(NZ)(Sea Road-Silver Run(NZ)) with Serpentine (Integra-Golden Senorita) bred by Mr A J Bowcock in third position.

 

The first of the black type races was Race 4 the Group 2 Up and Coming Stakes run over 1200 metres for 3YO Colts and Geldings and TBNSW members recorded a third placing in the event. Exceed and Excel (Danehill(USA)-Patrona(USA)) won from Danbird (Danehill(USA)-Fitting) with Hipwell (Arimdale-Kirlani) bred by Mr J R and Mrs P D Cribb in third place.

 

The listed Toy Show Quality Handicap, Race 5 on the card was the next of the black type races and TBNSW members recorded a second placing. Arrabeea(NZ)(Zabeel(NZ)-Trotanoy) was successful from Spurcent (Flying Spur-San Century(NZ)) bred by Mr K Rose with Mon Mekki (Mukddaam(USA)-Makepeace(NZ)) third.

 

A third placing for TBNSW members in Race 6 the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes. Regimental Gal (General Nediym-Hallaya) scored from Legally Bay (Snippets-Decidity) with Dorky (Grand Lodge(USA)-Boogie) bred by Woodlands Stud in third position.

 

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle as well as providing the third placing in Race 7 the Group 2 Warwick Stakes. Lonhro (Octagonal(NZ)-Shadea(NZ)) bred by Woodlands Stud was too good for Clangalang (Clang-Little Recruit(NZ)) with Defier (Dehere(USA)-Lilande) bred by Bhima Pty Limited in third place.

 

A third placing for TBNSW members in the last of the black type races for the day the listed Show County Quality Handicap Race 8 on the card. Sportsman (Supremo(USA)-Professionelle(NZ)) won from Britt’s Best (NZ) (Danehill(USA)-Bal Des Sirenes(IRE)) with Grand Armee (Hennessy(USA)-Tambour) bred by Newhaven Park Stud in third position.

 

TBNSW members finished the day in the winner’s circle when Flash Phantom scored in Race 9 the Bacardi Breezer Handicap. Flash Phantom (Appleby Fair-Escape in Vain) bred by Mr P J Roddam was too good for Barborough(NZ)(Woodborough(USA)-Ballamanda(NZ)) with After Class(NZ) (Masterclass(USA)-Our Martee(NZ)) third.

 

In Melbourne

Caufield was the venue for black type racing in Melbourne on Saturday with eight events on the program with the highlights being the Group 2 J J Liston Stakes, the listed Vain Stakes, the listed Quezette Stakes and the listed Cockram Stakes. TBNSW members recorded 2 winners (including a Group 2 and a listed race), 2 second placings and 2 third placings on the day.

 

TBNSW members opened their account with a third placing in Race 1 the RAANC Centenary Handicap. Written By A Queen(NZ)(Masterclass(USA)-Jelignite Jen (NZ)) won from Omaru Town (Marscay-Starnet) with Emerald Dane (Danehill(USA)-Emerald Princess(NZ)) bred by Mr G Harvey in third position.

 

A great result for TBNSW members in the first of the black type races, the listed Vain Stakes, Race 2 on the program run over 1200 metres for 3YO colts and geldings when Happy Strike saluted. Happy Strike (Gold Fever(USA)-Rich Haul) bred by Reavill No 4 Partnership scored from Scaredee Cat(NZ)(Tale of the Cat(USA)-Last Lady(NZ)) with Keep the Faith (Sunday Silence(USA)-Duelling Girl(USA)) third.

 

The next of the black type races was Race 3 the listed Quezette Stakes run over 1200 metres for 3YO fillies and it was a second placing for TBNSW members. French Bid (Anabaa(USA)-My Crystal Star) was successful from Beautiful Gem (Peintre Celebre(USA)-Just Blooming) bred by Gooree Park Stud with Roedean (Flying Spur-Queen Kathleen) in third place.

 

The main event on the program was Race 5 the Group 2 J J Liston Stakes run over 1400 metres and it was a great result for TBNSW members who provided the quinella in the event. Super Elegant (Mister C(USA)-Ever Elegant) bred by Mr F Peisah won from Vocabulary (Encosta de Lago-Lady Linguist) bred by Mr P R Stewart and Ms B E Woodford-Smith with Walk on Air (Eire(NZ)-Ride the Wind(NZ)) third.

 

The last of the black type races for the day was Race 7 the listed Cockram Stakes and it was a third placing for TBNSW members. Brief Embrace (Irgun(USA)-Tranquil) was too good for Royal Sash (Royal Academy(USA)-Flurry’s Autumn) with Ain’t Seen Nothin’ (Nothin’ Leica Dane-Icecapade) bred by Mr J Ovenstone in third position.

 

In Brisbane

Doomben was the venue in Brisbane for an eight event card on Saturday. TBNSW members recorded 2 second placings and a third placing on the day.

 

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 4 the BTC/QROA Horse of the Year Handicap. Amex (Success Express(USA)-Spriggy) was successful from Orthopaedic (Octagonal(NZ)-Casualty) bred by Woodlands Stud with Heroism (Brave Warrior-Jessie Belinda(NZ)) third.

 

TBNSW members recorded second and third placings in Race 8 the WWW.Tomstips.com.au Handicap. Sequality (Sequalo-Northern Beauty) won from Katabatic (Mr Henrysee(USA)-Annie V(USA)) bred by Meringo Stud Farm with Gramercy (Quest for Fame(GB)-Dinna Fash) bred by Woodlands Stud in third position.

 

WEEKEND RACING - 16/08/03

This weekend black type racing was held at Rosehill, Moonee Valley and Belmont. Rosehill Gardens was the venue in Sydney for the Group 2 Premiere Stakes. Moonee Valley was the venue in Melbourne for the listed William Crockett Stakes, the listed Mitchell McKenzie Stakes and the listed McEwen Trophy. Belmont Park in Perth was the venue for the listed Goodwood Sprint.

 

TBNSW members were successful in the listed McEwen Trophy.

 

In Sydney

Rosehill Gardens was the venue for racing in Sydney on Saturday for an eight event card with the highlight being the Group 2 Premiere Stakes. TBNSW members recorded a winner and 5 third placings on the day.

 

TBNSW members opened their account with a third placing in Race 2 the Smithfield RSL Club Handicap. Secret Gift (Encosta de Lago-Cherished(NZ)) was successful from Maskerado(NZ)(Straight Strike(USA)-Classic Eve(NZ)) with Minelli (Flying Spur-Star of Alexis(USA)) bred by Gooree Park Stud in third position.

 

A third placing for TBNSW members in Race 3 the Merrylands RSL Club Handicap. Gilded Youth (Gilded Time(USA)-Kapeskin(NZ)) scored from Charmview (Royal Academy(USA)-Staremma(NZ)) with Hassle (Zabeel(NZ)-Greeting) bred by Woodlands Stud in third place.

 

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle as well as providing the third placing in Race 4 the Mounties Handicap. Hillman (Danehill(USA)-Triscay) bred by Bhima Pty Limited was too good for Force Zulu (Metal Storm(FR)-Zabatac) with Ruember (Forest Glow(USA)-Rummy) bred by Mr J T and Mrs G R Morrissey in third position.

 

Another third placing for TBNSW members in Race 5 the Fairfield RSL Club Handicap. Sportsbrat (Sports Works-Oh Congo) won from Dial Tones (Rubiton-Dialled) with Silver Duke (Skilful Star-Osrada) bred by Cescastle Pty Limited in third place.

 

The highlight of the program was the Group 2 Premiere Stakes run over 1200 metres and it was a third placing for TBNSW members. Thorn Park (Spinning World(USA)-Joy) scored most impressively from Patezza (Rubiton-Stars Above) with Excellerator (Marscay-Artless) bred by Bhima Pty Limited in third position.

 

In Melbourne

Moonee Valley was the venue for racing in Melbourne on Saturday with eight events on the program with the highlights being the listed William Crockett Stakes, the listed Mitchell McKenzie Stakes and the listed McEwen Trophy. TBNSW members recorded a winner in a listed race on the day.

 

The first of the black type races was Race 2 the listed William Crockett Stakes run over 1000 metres for three-year-old fillies. Dilly Dally (Rubiton-Faricca) scored from Carlton Spirit (Fraar(USA)-Aces Royale) with Arena Star (Spartacus-Centrullah) third.

 

Race 4 was the next black type race on the card the listed Mitchell McKenzie Stakes for three-year-old colts and geldings run over 1000 metres. Lago Delight (Encosta de Lago-Sweet Delight) was too good for Cross Current (Keltrice-River Express) with Great is Great (Desert Sun(GB)-Predictions(NZ)) in third place.

 

The last of the black type races was Race 6 the listed McEwen Trophy run over 1000 metres and TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle when Yell saluted. Yell (Anabaa-Vocalist) bred by Woodlands Stud made a great return to racing scoring convincingly from The Big Chill(NZ)(O’Reilly(NZ)-Icy Calm(NZ)) with Dantana (Danzero-Big Sky Montana) in third position.

 

In Perth

Belmont Park was the venue for black type racing in Perth with the running of the listed Goodwood Sprint which was taken out by Tribula (Tribu-Tabula) from Suspicion (Mukddaam(USA)-Flaming Heart) withy Modem (Bletchley Park(IRE)-Refurnish) in third place.

 

In Brisbane

Eagle Farm was the venue in Brisbane for an eight event card on Saturday. TBNSW members recorded a second placing and 2 third placings on the day.

 

TBNSW members opened their account with a third placing in Race 2 the Show Handicap. On the List(NZ)(Sri Pekan(USA)-Mon Ami) was successful from Alpine Express (Nediym(IRE)-Alpine River) with Aggravation (Sanction-La Femme) bred by Woodlands Stud in third position.

 

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 3 the Grey Affair Handicap. Winsome Dancer (Celestial Dancer(IRE)-Winsome Blue) won from Sirona (Celtic Swing(GB)-Beauty Case) bred by Cescastle Pty Limited with Sha Alma (Semipalatinsk(USA)-Sha Michelle) third.

 

A third placing for TBNSW members in Race 7 the Super Mine Handicap. Mighty Stronghold (Mighty Avalanche-Pacific Bliss) scored from Royal Opera (Royal Academy(USA)-Musical Lover) with Stormy Joe (Hurricane Sky-Una Donna(NZ)) bred by Dr J D Woolridge in third place.

This weekend black type racing was held at Randwick and Morphettville. Randwick was the venue in Sydney for the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes and Morphettville in Adelaide was the venue for the listed Adelaide Saab (Wylie) Handicap.

 

In Sydney

Royal Randwick was the venue for racing in Sydney on Saturday for an eight event card with the highlight being the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes. TBNSW members recorded a winner, 4 second placings and 3 third placings on the day.

 

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle as well as providing the third placegetter in Race 2 the North Sydney Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine Centre Handicap. Domine (Strategic-Hallelujah) bred by Woodlands Stud was too strong for My Tally (Johann Quatz(FR)-Fabuleux) with Ariante (Filante(NZ)-Arietta) bred by Mr R N Moclair in third position.

 

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 3 the Leda Holdings Handicap. Go Ziggy(NZ)(Centaine-Wild Swan(NZ)) was successful from Ms Bowie (Anabaa(USA)-Iman) bred by Bill Duncan Bloodstock and Widden Stud with Reve (Flying Spur-Pre Packer’s Dream) third.

 

Another second placing for TBNSW members in Race 4 the Star Track Express Handicap. Miss Ivy(NZ)(Gold Brose-Midori Splice) won from Tsumai (Thunder Gulch(USA)-Triscay) bred by Bhima Pty Limited with Look At Mars (Marscay-Chase The Chick) in third place.

 

TBNSW members recorded a second placing in Race 5 the Steve Costi Seafoods Handicap. Quadri (Komon(IRE)-Covalent) scored from Hotter Than Hell (Palace Music(USA)-Too Darn Hot(NZ)) bred by Mr A E Vrisakis with Rolling Kingston (Kingston Seattle(USA)-Classic Shine) third.

 

The highlight of the program was the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes for three-year-olds run over 1000 metres and it was a third placing for TBNSW members. TBNSW members recorded second and third placings in Race 7 the Fine Art Storage Handicap. Loisset (Langfuhr(CAN)-Selma Road) won from Vetorisc (Vettori(Ire)-Play Safe) bred by H & J Blight with Seesaw (Sea Swell-Rectify) bred by Middlebrook Valley Lodge and Eclipse Stud in third place.

 

In Adelaide

Morphettville was the venue for black type racing in Adelaide with the running of the listed Adelaide Saab (Wylie) Handicap which was taken out by Lemonade Parade (Jeune(GB)-Amfast) from Oh So Discreet (Bluebird(USA)-Halo Again) with Sciatica (Blevic-Top Polish) in third position.

Sandown Hillside was the venue for racing in Melbourne on Saturday with eight events on the program. TBNSW members recorded a winner, a second placing and a third placing on the day.

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle in Race 3 the St Margaret’s Oga Handicap when Bails saluted. Bails (Vettori(IRE)-News Box(NZ)) bred by Baramul Stud was too good for Mighty Stronghold (Mighty Avalanche-Pacific Bliss) with Blaze a Fortune (Blazcay-Pagona Girl) in third place.

 

A third placing for TBNSW members in Race 5 the St Margaret’s AGS Exhibition Handicap. Amex (Success Express(USA)-Spriggy) scored from Consular (Royal Academy(USA)-Miss Prospect) with Shamrocks (Grand Lodge(USA)-Trousseau) bred by Woodlands Stud in third position.

 

TBNSW members finished the day with a third placing in Race 8 the Copy Print Xpress Handicap. Martino(NZ)(Maroof(USA)-Clara Duthie(NZ)) was successful from King Shalford (Shalford(IRE)-Beach Stroll) with Orthopaedic (Octagonal(NZ)-Casualty) bred by Woodlands Stud in third place.

 

WEEKEND RACING - 02/08/03

This weekend saw the start of the new season with the first of the black type races being held at Rosehill, Caulfield and Belmont Park. Rosehill was the venue in Sydney for the Group 3 Missile Stakes. Caulfield was the Melbourne venue for the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes while Belmont Park in Perth hosted the listed Belmont Newmarket.

 

TBNSW members were successful in the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes.

 

In Sydney

Rosehill Gardens was the venue for racing in Sydney on Saturday for an eight event card with the highlight being the Group 3 Missile Stakes. TBNSW members recorded 2 winners, 4 second placings and 3 third placings on the day.

 

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 1 the Gallagher Hotel Group Handicap. Jewel Peak (Shovog-Zoffany’s Treasure) was successful from Nagoya (Quest for Fame(GB)-Suzuka) bred by Woodlands Stud with Charmview (Royal Academy(USA)-Staremma(NZ)) third.

 

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle as well as providing the third placing in Race 2 the PJ’s Irish Pubs Handicap. Spurcent (Flying Spur-San Century(NZ)) bred by Mr K Rose scored from Gilded Youth (Gilded Time(USA)-Kapeskin) with Spinning Boy (Spinning World(USA)-Windfall) bred by Mr G Harvey in third position.

 

A third placing for TBNSW members in Race 3 the Gallagher Hotel Management Handicap. Quadri (Komom(IRE)-Covalent) won from Hy Fuji (Fuji Kiseki-Hysterical(NZ)) with Daneborogh (Danehill(USA)-Kingston Red) bred by Pitt Place Pty Limited in third place.

 

Another third placing for TBNSW members in Race 4 the Union Hotel North Sydney Handicap. Nordic Flight (Carry The Crown(CAN)-Alternate Flight) was successful from Arrabeea(NZ)(Zabeel(NZ)-Trotanoy) with Jamrah (Secret Savings(USA)-Guliston) bred by Emirates Park Pty Limited in third position.

 

A quinella for TBNSW members in Race 5 the PJ Gallagher’s Drummoyne Opening Soon Handicap. Catechism (Naturalism(NZ)-Chapel Light(USA)) bred by Meringo Stud Farm won from Factional (Octagonal(NZ)-Partisan) bred by Woodlands Stud with El Rapido (Hurricane Sky-Rich Pageantry) third.

 

The highlight of the meeting was Race 6 on the program the Group 3 Missile Stakes run over 1100 metres and it was a second placing for TBNSW members. Pompeii (Just Awesome-Blazing Palace(NZ)) was successful from Academe (Royal Academy(USA)-Vionnet) bred by Mr O P Tait and Mrs S S Nivison with Our Egyptian Raine(NZ)(Desert Sun(GB)-Egyptian Queen(NZ)) in third place.

 

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 7 the Uncorked Restaurant North Sydney Handicap. Damigos (Danehill Dancer(IRE)-Still Friends) won from Ruember (Forest Glow(USA)-Rummy) bred by Mr J T and Mrs G R Morrissey with Beamer (Mister Kwilia-Our Zoffany Girl) third.

 

In Melbourne

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle in Race 2 the Monarch Spas Handicap when Willow Wind saluted. Willow Wind (Spectrum(IRE)-Willow Brook(NZ)) bred by Swettenham Stud was too good for Harley Ma (Shovog-Marjoyan) with Amber Shimmer (Geiger Counter(USA)-Amber Plate) in third place.

 

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 3 the Sportsmart Handicap. Sacred Hill(NZ)(Langfuhr(CAN)-Tonaquil) won from Goodnight Kiss (Sir Laurence(NZ)-Spellbound) bred by Mrs S Bissett and Mr I Woodford-Smith with Danviva (Danzero-Viva Nijinska) third.

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 5 the Expertform.com Mares Handicap. Winsome Dancer (Celestial Dancer(IRE)-Winsome Blue) won from Cha Cha D’Amouor (Danehill Dancer(IRE)-We Love Coffs) bred by Hobartville Stud with Varna (Dantibes-Mrs Max) in third place.

 

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle in Race 6 the BGS Old Boys Association President’s Handicap when Stormy Joe scored. Stormy Joe (Hurricane Sky-Una Donna(NZ)) bred by Dr J D Woolridge was too strong for Masindor (Banning-Mawenzi(NZ)) with How High Sir (Captain Piper-Jump for Joy) in third position.
