WEEKEND RACING - 20/12/03

Black Type Racing was held in Western Australia , New South Wales and Queensland this week.  Perth was again the focus with Belmont hosting the running of the Group 2 C B Cox Stakes, the Group 3 Lee Steere Classic, the listed Starstruck Classic, the listed December Stakes and the listed Colonel Reeves Stakes.  Royal Randwick was the venue in Sydney for the Group 2 Villiers Stakes, the listed Canonbury Stakes and the listed Razor Sharp Stakes.  Doomben in Brisbane hosted the listed Doomben Stakes.

 

In Perth

Belmont was the venue in Perth for black type racing with the running of the Group 2 C B Cox Stakes, the Group 3 Lee Steere Classic, the listed Starstruck Classic, the listed December Stakes and the listed Colonel Reeves Stakes.

 

The first of the black type races was the listed December Stakes run over 1600 metres.  Secret Link (Encosta de Lago-Most Secret) scored from Jaunty Lad (Leune(GB)-Chauntress) with Aussie Strike (Poliuto(IRE)-Belt) third.

 

The Group 3 Lee Steere Classic run over 1400 metres for three-year-olds was the next black type event on the card.  Changing Lanes (Racer’s Edge-Throwing Copper) was successful from Hartley’s Dream (Bletchley Park(IRE)-Prohurst) with Chaumont (Bletchley Park(IRE)-La Fontaine) in third place.

 

The listed Starstuck Classic was the following black type event and it was a third placing for TBNSW members.  Lady Go Bello (Bellotto(USA)-Todtona) won from Tribal Secret (Tribu-Just Hopeful) with Latte (Anabaa(USA)-Laffy) bred by Reavill No 1 Partnership in third position.

 

The highlight of the meeting was the Group 2 C B Cox Stakes run over 2400 metres which was taken out by Celtus (Celtic Swing(GB)-Georgie Lady) from Higgins Gold (Higginsville-Elaan) with Free at Last(NZ)(Senor Pete(USA)-Bargibant(NZ)) third.

 

The last of the black type races was the listed Colonel Reeves Stakes.  Golden Delicious (Made of Gold( USA )-Barossa Gourmet) was too good for Hot Shot  Brother (Key Business-Cold Fushion) with Wyndham Glory (Rory’s Jester-Eccentricity) in third place.

 

In Sydney

Royal Randwick was the venue for black type racing in Sydney on Saturday with the running of the Group 2 Villiers Stakes, the listed Canonbury Stakes and the listed Razor Sharp Stakes on an eight event program.   TBNSW members recorded a winner, 4 second placings and 3 third placings on the day.

 

TBNSW members opened their account with a second placing in Race 1 the Motor Neurone Disease Plate.  Danete’s Paradiso(NZ)(Danske-Genesis) was successful from Ashworth (Royal Academy(USA)-Too Darn Hot) bred by Mr A E Vrisakis with Market Unit (Regal Classic(CAN)-Oasis) third.

 

A third placing for TBNSW members in Race 2 the Scotty Gale’s Race for a Cure Plate.  Pour Ma Mere (Blazcay-Laratoon) won from Lakeside Miss (Lake Coniston(IRE)-Miss Mirari) with Mozart’s Pie (Yallah Prince-Salieri’s Pride) bred by Motto Park Stud Farm in third position.

 

The first of the black type events was Race 3 the listed Canonbury Stakes for two-year-olds run over 1000 metres and it was a third placing for TBNSW members.  Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice-Singles Bar) scored most impressively from Valse Des Fleurs(NZ)(Stravinsky(USA)-Florinda(NZ)) with Suite (Stravinsky(USA)-Cousins) bred by Mr J B Cummings in third place.

 

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 4 the Cripps & Cripps Real Estate Plate.  Dream Beauty (Lacryma Cristi(IRE)-Little Voodoo) won from Best French (Air de France( USA )-Best of Babylon) bred by Mr G Harvey with Southern Rose (Unbridled’s Song(USA)-The Roscoe Rose(USA)) third.

 

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle when Mimzical saluted in Race 5 the Christie’s Pty Ltd Plate.  Mimzical (El Moxie(USA)-Beautiful Mimzar) bred by Emirates Park Pty Limited was too good for Mindreader (Mind Games(GB)-Regal Hussy) withy Bella Sunday (Sunday Silence(USA)-Singles Bar) third.

 

The highlight of the meeting was Race 6 the Group 2 Villiers Stakes run over 1600 metres and TBNSW members recorded second and third placings in the event.  On A High (Pauillac-High Wisdom) was successful from Mufti (Quest for Fame(GB)-Trousseau) with Jeremiad (Octagonal(NZ)-Lament) in third position.  Both second and third placegetters were bred by Woodlands Stud.

 

The last of the black type races was Race 7 the listed Razor Sharp Handicap which was taken out by Chester County (Hennessy(USA)-Quinsigimond(GB)) from Presently (Unbridled’s Song)USA)-Centaine’s Gift) with Gullcatcher (Bite the Bullet(USA)-Galspray) third.

 

TBNSW members finished the day with a second placing in Race 8 the MFS Group Plate.  Spinjester (Rory’s Jester-Spinjive) won from Architrave (Woodman(USA)-Night Sister) bred by Mr P Lyons with Charlie Bub(NZ)(O’Reilly(NZ)-Ungaro) in third place.

 

In Brisbane

Doomben was the venue in Brisbane for an eight event card on Saturday with the highlight being the listed Doomben Stakes.  TBNSW members recorded a winner, 2 second placings and a third placing on the day.

 

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 3 the Northern City Finance Redlands Handicap.  See You Twist (Semitwist-Miss Dani) was successful from Commercial Dane (Shovog-Commercial Run(USA)) bred by Mr S F Johnson with Piccohi (Piccolo(GB)-Grecian Flame) third.

 

Another second placing for TBNSW members in Race 4 the Northern City Finance Macgregor Handicap.  Blerick (Varick(USA)-Greygum Lady) won from Lexington Park (Humam(IRE)-Nickle and Dime(NZ)) bred by Mr R M Lapointe with Winning Friends(NZ)(Carnegie(IRE)-Straight Line(NZ)) in third place.

 

The highlight of the meeting was Race 7 on the program the listed Doomben Stakes run over 1350 metres.  Picaday (Piccolo(GB)-Our Today) was too good for Deuxieme (Telesto(NZ)-Serenely) with Forever Amen (Forever Regal(CAN)-Genet) third.

 

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle as well as recording a third placing in Race 8 the Northern City Finance Brisbane West Handicap.  Algorithm (Secret Savings(USA)-Just Pretty(USA)) bred by Emirates Park Pty Limited was too strong for Mt Gower (Snippets-Caralia) with Slick Operator (Sequalo-Sailor’s Choice) bred by Mr R L Moses in third position.

 

In Melbourne

Flemington was the venue for racing in Melbourne on Saturday with eight events on the program.   TBNSW members recorded a second placing and 3 third placings on the day.

 

A third placing for TBNSW members in Race 4 the Maybe Mahal Handicap.  Largo (Encosta de Lago-Viminaria) was successful from Demographic (Gold Brose-Special Sal) with Subella (Secret Savings(USA)-Zaghaareed(USA)) bred by Emirates Park Pty Limited in third position.

 

TBNSW members recorded a third placing in  Race 6 the Antler Luggage Handicap.  Monahan Tweed (Monde Bleu(GB)-Fine Habit) won from Pompous (Jeune(GB)-Larger Than Life) with Alqsar (Quest for Fame(GB)-Spanish Mix) bred by Mrs M King in third place.

 

Another third placing for TBNSW members in Race 7 the Fiesta Star Handicap.  Redjack (Redding(NZ)-Regal Sal) scored from Scenic Garden (Blevic-Nema Daian) with Dane News (Danehill(USA)-Palace News(NZ)) bred by Mr G Harvey in third position.

 

TBNSW members finished the day with a second placing in Race 8 the Super Vobis Beachside Handicap.  Country Lodge (Grand Lodge(USA)-Coalition) was successful from Demerger (Saithor(USA)-Triattica) bred by Vinery Australia with Let’s Fly Away (King of Kings(IRE)-Posy) third.

 

WEEKEND RACING - 13/12/03

Black Type Racing was held in Western Australia , South Australia , Queensland and New South Wales this week.  Perth was again the focus with Belmont hosting the running of the Group 1 Fruit ‘n’ Veg Stakes and the listed N J Way Stakes.  Cheltenham Park was the venue in Adelaide for the running of the listed Port Adelaide Cup and the listed Durbridge Stakes.  Eagle Farm in Brisbane hosted the listed J F Meynink Stakes and the listed Coolmore Quality whilst Rosehill Gardens in Sydney was the venue for the listed Christmas Cup.

 

In Perth

Belmont was the venue in Perth for black type racing with the running of the Group 1 Fruit ‘n’ Veg Stakes and the listed N J Way Stakes.

 

The first of the black type races was the listed N J Way Stakes which was taken out by Covertly (Metal Storm(FR)-Most Secret) from Tesco’s Empire (Second Empire(IRE)-Miss Tesco) with Gloravega (Honour and Glory(USA)-Terevega) in third place.

 

The highlight of the meeting was the Group 1 Fruit ‘n’ Veg Stakes run over 2000 metres.  True Steel (Jeune(GB)-How Special) scored from the NSW bred Milanova (Danehill(USA)-L’On Vite(USA)) with Hardrada (Marooned(GB)- Marrich Bay ) in third position.

 

In Adelaide

Cheltenham Park was the venue in Adelaide for black type racing with the running of the listed Port Adelaide Cup and the listed Durbridge Stakes.

 

The listed Port Adelaide Cup was the first of the black type races and it was taken out by Odysseus(NZ)(Sandtrap(USA)-Villasayas(NZ)) from Tiona (Blevic-Foger’s Charm) with William of Oz (Bill-Ruan Princess) third.

 

The other black type event on the card was the listed Durbridge Stakes run over 1300 metres and it was a second placing for TBNSW members and a trifecta for NSW bred horses.  Kulnura (Mukaddamah(USA)-Pomp and Glitter(NZ)) was successful from Unrocel Saint (Last Tycoon(IRE)-Pheroz Fantasy(NZ)) bred by Mr G Murphy with Magique Sky (Hurricane Sky-De Beauvoir) in third position.

 

In Brisbane

Eagle Farm was the venue in Brisbane for an eight event card on Saturday with the highlight being the the listed J F Meynink Stakes and the listed Coolmore Quality.  TBNSW members recorded a winner, 2 second placings and a third placing on the day.

 

TBNSW members opened their account with a second placing in Race 1 the Spinning World Handicap.  Awesome Weather (Just Awesome-Sea and Sun) was successful from Classic Karla (Kala Town-Sports Classic) bred by Mr D K Schouten with She’s All Gold(NZ)(Prized(USA)-Pay Betta(NZ)) third.

 

The first of the black type races was Race 3 the listed J F Meynink Stakes which was taken out by Rule of Engagement(NZ)(Danasinga-Ungaro(NZ)) from Kengrande (Kenfair(NZ)-Dane Grande) with Fine Silver (Canadian Silver(CAN)-Refined) in third place.

 

Second and third placings for TBNSW members in Race 4 the Peintre Celebre Handicap.  Starcraft(NZ)(Soviet Star(USA)-Flying Floozie(NZ)) scored from Exquisitely (Snippets-Our Brigetta) bred by C & R Thurecht Pty Limited with Lexington Park (Humam(IRE)-Nickel and Dime(NZ)) bred by Mr R M Lapointe in third position.

 

The other black type event on the card was the listed Coolmore Quality for fillies and mares run over 1300 metres.  Poacher’s Luck (Lion Hunter-Millie’s Luck) won from the NSW bred Dane Shakira (Danehill(USA)-Jeanetta Cochrane(IRE)) with Ta Ta Tatiana (Carry the Crown(CAN)-Thaiuette) also bred in NSW in third place.

 

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle when Skiddaw saluted in Race 7 the Fasliyev Handicap.  Skiddaw (Lake Coniston(IRE)-Caltra) bred by Woodlands Stud was too good for Royal Opera (Royal Academy(USA)-Musical Lover) with Heroism (Brave Warrior-Jessie Belinda(NZ)) third.

 

In Sydney

Rosehill Gardens was the venue for racing in Sydney on Saturday with nine events on the program with the highlight being the listed Christmas Cup.   TBNSW members recorded 3 second placings and 2 third placings on the day.

 

TBNSW members started the day with second and third placings in Race 1 the Parramatta Leagues Club Handicap.  Enconsul(NZ)(Pins-Gypsy Soul(NZ)) was successful from Frozen Valour (Honour and Glory(USA-Lady of Snows) bred by Glemel Pty Limited with Midnight City (Lion Hunter-Red Rebel Girl) bred by Mr C O’Mealley in third place.

 

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 5 the Singapore Turf Club Trophy.  Sunday Service (Sunday Silence(USA)-Lady’s Delight) scored from Lodgent (Grand Lodge(USA)-Seal Point) bred by Mrs C A Richards with Lord of Lords (King of Kings(IRE)-Mean Eyes) third.

 

The highlight on the card was Race 7 the listed Christmas Cup run over 2400 metres and TBNSW members recorded a third placing in the event.  Sadarar (Rock Hopper(GB)-Our Rita(GB)) won from Windorf (Danewin-Slightly Suss) with Grampians (Danehill(USA)-Balmoral) bred by Woodlands Stud in third position.

 

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 8 the Matador Bullbars & Towbars Handicap.  Cariboo (Canadian Silver(CAN)-Winitski) was successful from Groove Master (Danehill Dancer(IRE)-Way to the Stars) bred by Cescastle Pty Limited with Centre Fire (Bite the Bullet(USA)-Flaming Ambition) in third place.

 

In Melbourne

Moonee Valley was the venue for racing in Melbourne on Saturday with eight events on the program.   TBNSW members recorded 2 winners, a second placing and a third placing on the day.

 

TBNSW members were off to a flying start providing the winner and third placing in Race 1 the Toy Factory Plate.  Mantle (Quest for Fame(GB)-Pinafore) bred by Woodlands Stud scored from Rocket General (General Nediym-Cherlegal) with French Ploy (Favourite Trick(USA)-French Treasure(USA)) bred by Swettenham Stud in third position.

 

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle when Danrego saluted in Race 3 the Functional Packaging Solutions Handicap.  Danrego (Danzero-Marrego) bred by Bhima Pty Limited was too good for Raja Lane (Devaraja(NZ)-English Lane) with Raven Protector (Hector Protector (USA)-Raven Runner(USA)) third.

 

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 6 the Scalzo Food Industries Mile.  Marbine (Out Maizcay-Flying Kiss(NZ)) won from Mythological (Bite the Bullet(USA)-Mythos) bred by Woodlands Stud with Silver Birch (Forest Glow(USA)-Bendara Lass) in third place.

 

WEEKEND RACING - 5/12/03 & 6/12/03

Black Type Racing was held in Western Australia and Queensland this week.  Perth was again the focus with Belmont hosting the running of the Group 3 Prince of Wales Stakes, the listed Raconteur Stakes, the listed Towton Cup and the listed Jungle Dawn Classic.  Doomben was the venue in Brisbane for the Group 3 Summer Stakes.

 

In Perth

Belmont was the venue in Perth for black type racing with the running of the Group 3 Prince of Wales Stakes, the listed Raconteur Stakes, the listed Towton Cup and the listed Jungle Dawn Classic.

 

The first of the black type races was the listed Raconteur Stakes run over 1400 metres for three-year olds.  Hartley’s Dream (Bletchley Park(IRE)-Prohurst) scored from Changing Lanes (Racer’s Edge-Throwing Copper) with Lady Sherifa (Metal Storm(FR)-Real Famous) third.

 

The next of the black type races was the listed Jungle Dawn Classic which was taken out by Tantra Dancer (Hideyoshi(USA)-Road to Skye) from Carry Kali (Carry A Smile-Port Princess) with A Bonny Drop (Ron Bon(USA)-Part Whiskey(NZ)) in third place.

 

The highlight of the meeting was the Group 3 Prince of Wales Stakes run over 1200 metres.  Kaprats (Star Pak-Sister Four) saluted from Dead Eye Dick (Red Eye Special-Send Your Regards) with Hot Shot Brother (Key Business-Gold Fushion) in third position.

 

The last of the black type races was the listed G A Towton Cup and it was taken out by Celtus (Celtic Swing(GB)-Georgie Lady) from Desert Dreamer (Bletchley Park(IRE)- Mali ) with King Canute (King of Kings(IRE)-Marooned Lady) in third place.

 

In Brisbane

Doomben was the venue in Brisbane for an eight event card on Saturday with the highlight being the Group 3 Summer Stakes.  Unfortunately the program was abandoned after Race 1.

 

In Sydney

Royal Randwick was the venue for racing in Sydney on Saturday with nine events on the program.   TBNSW members recorded 4 winners, 4 second placing and  5 third placings on the day.

 

TBNSW members were off to a flying start providing the trifecta in Race 1 the Stargames Handicap.  Conrod Straight (Danzero-Artheena) bred by Macquarie Stud was successful from Nawaaf (Danehill(USA)-Small Timer(USA)) bred by Emirates Park Pty Limited with Connecticut (Danehill(USA)-Milva(USA)) bred by Strawberry Hill Stud in third position.

 

Second and third placings for TBNSW members in Race 2 the Marriott Hotels Australia Handicap.  Belle Feline(NZ)) (Tale of the Cat(USA)-Belle Syar(NZ)) won from Polish Empress (Polish Navy(USA)-Imperial Elder(NZ)) bred by Dr J D Woolridge with Xanex (Polish Laughter(USA)-Edgecliff(NZ)) bred by Emirates Park Pty Limited in third place.

 

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 3 the Smith & Nephew Profix Plate.  Jewel Attraction (Marwina-Venetian Jewel) was successful from Lasting Faith (Humam(IRE)-Faith Goddess) bred by Middlebrook Valley Lodge and Eclipse Stud with Kianben (Jan Murray(USA)-Beyond Words) third.

 

A great result for TBNSW members in Race 4 the Smith & Nephew Dyonics Plate providing the trifecta in the event.  Dane Fever (Danehill(USA)-Campbell Fever) bred by Swettenham Stud scored from Plywood (Woodman(USA)-Chrissy) bred by Bhima Pty Limited with Monte Warrior (End Sweep(USA)-Glendre) bred by Letmar Investments Pty Limited in third position.

 

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle when Best French saluted in Race 5 the Smith & Nephew Reflection Plate.  Best French (Air De France(USA)-Best of Babylon) bred by Mr G Harvey was too good for St Jessie (Jetball-Be Bop A Lula(NZ)) with Southern Rose (Unbridled’s Song(USA)-The Roscoe Rose(USA)) third.

 

A third placing for TBNSW members in Race 6 the Smith & Nephew Genesis II Plate.  Marwin Gold (Marwina-Princess Marigold) won from Majestic Fiesta(NZ)(Maroof(USA)-Martine Michelle(NZ)) with Turaga (Danehill Dancer(IRE)-Main Event) bred by Mr J E Hayes in third position.

 

TBNSW members finished the day with a winner and a third placing in Race 9 the Smith & Nephew Trigen Plate.  Mufti (Quest for Fame(GB)-Trousseau) scored most impressively from Prime Century(NZ)(Centaine-Pirouette(NZ)) with Jeremaid (Octagonal (NZ)-Lament) in third place.  Both the winner and third placegetter were bred by Woodlands Stud.

 

In Melbourne Friday 5.12.03

Moonee Valley was the venue for racing in Melbourne on Friday night with seven events on the program.   TBNSW members recorded a second placing and a third placing on the night.

 

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 3 the Liberty Giants Handicap.  Rather Grand (Grand Lodge(USA)-Rather Droll) was successful from Trattoria (Shovog-Pitrizza) bred by Holbrook Thoroughbreds with Coco Jamaica (Kingston Rule(USA)-Star on Parade) in third place.

 

TBNSW members recorded a third placing in Race 4 the Jayco Bay Classic Handicap.  Plaudits(NZ)(Danasinga-Night Star(NZ)) scored from Bonoval (Bonhomie(USA)-Western Oval(NZ)) with Cut Through (Royal Academy(USA)-Maximum Effort(NZ)) bred by Dr J D Woolridge in third position.

 

In Melbourne Saturday 6.12.03

Sandown HIllside was the venue for racing in Melbourne on Saturday with eight events on the program.   TBNSW members recorded 2 winners and 5 second placings on the day.

 

TBNSW members were off to a flying start providing the quinella in Race 1 the Wood Court Inn Super Vobis Handicap.  Debra’s Joy (Danehill(USA)-Joy) bred by Mr M A Pitt was successful from Demerger (Saithor(USA)-Triattica) bred by Vinery Australia with Nuts About Jugah (Jugah(USA)-Adara) third.

 

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 2 the Sovereign Red Super Vobis Handicap.  Bushido (Desert Sun(GB)-Snowflake) won from Living Spirit (Hennessy(USA)-Livelihood) bred by Swettenham Stud with Young Jimmy (Gilded Time(USA)-Cheeky Trot(GB)) in third place.

 

TBNSW members recorded a second placing in Race 3 the Combined Building Consultants Handicap.  Neo (Perugino(USA)-Sharcrest) scored from Dan’s Princess (Danzero-Princess Matilda) bred by Mr J R Cribb with Doppio (Umatilla(NZ)-Rubra Lass) in third position.

 

A quinella for TBNSW members in Race 4 the Charity Racing Club Handicap.  Bird Dancer (Hennessy(USA)-Be Yourself(USA)) bred by Mr P Gunter was successful from Philotimo (Quest for Fame(GB)-Aspirations) bred by Woodlands Stud with Karamazou (Brave Warrior-Stotwa) third.

 

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 7 the Master Builders Technologies Handicap.  Written Journey (Marooned(GB)-Vainremer) won from Pick Pocketer (Bluebird(USA)-Slade) bred by Mr G Murphie with Hulavie (Hula Grey-Arlealvina) in third place.
