Melbourne was the sole venue for black type racing this weekend with Moonee Valley hosting the Group 1 W S Cox Plate, the Group 2 Schweppervescence Stakes, the Group 2 AAMI Vase, the Group 2 Club Lifestyle Stakes, the Group 2 Waterford Crystal Mile, the Group 2 Cathay Pacific Cup, the Group 3 Tesio Stakes, the listed Eliza Park Stakes and the listed Jayco Stakes.

TBNSW members were successful in the listed Eliza Park Stakes.

In Melbourne

Canberra was the venue for black type racing on Sunday with the running of the Listed Canberra Cup which was taken out by the NSW bred Mooring’s Melody (Song of Tara(IRE)-Set a Symphony(NZ)) from Spading (St Covet-Crackapon(NZ)) with Rocksinga(NZ)(Danasinga-Rock The Kasbar(NZ)) third.

WEEKEND RACING - 4 & 6 /09/03

A bumper weekend of black type racing. Royal Randwick was the venue in Sydney on Saturday for the running of the Group 1 Epsom Handicap, the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes, the Group 1 Flight Stakes, the Group 3 Craven Plate, the listed Breeders Plate, the listed Brian Crowley Stakes and the listed Angst Quality. Flemington was the venue in Melbourne on Saturday for the running of the Group 2 Turnbull Stakes, the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes, the Group 3 Gilgai Stakes, the Group 3 Jayco Stakes, the listed Maribyrnong Trial and the listed Concept Sports Stakes. Cheltenham Park in Adelaide hosted the listed Hill Smith Stakes.

On Monday black type racing was held at Royal Randwick with the running of the Group 1 Metropolitan Handicap, the Group 3 The Shorts and the listed Gimcrack Stakes while Victoria Park was the venue in Adelaide for the listed Fulham Park Plate.

TBNSW members were successful in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes, the Group 3 Jayco Stakes, the listed Breeders Plate and the listed Maribyrnong Trial.

In Sydney 04.10.03

Royal Randwick was the venue for black type racing in Sydney on Saturday with the running of the Group 1 Epsom Handicap, the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes, the Group 1 Flight Stakes, the Group 3 Craven Plate, the listed Breeders Plate, the listed Brian Crowley Stakes and the listed Angst Quality on a nine event card. It was a good day for TBNSW members who recorded 4 winners (including G1 and LR), 4 second placings and 3 third placings.

TBNSW members were off to a flying start when Charge Forward saluted in Race 1 the listed Breeders Plate run over 1000 metres for two-year-old colts and geldings. Charge Forward (Red Ransom(USA)-Sydney’s Dream) bred by Mr DPR Esplin was too good for Wenceslas Square (Marju(IRE)-Emmy B(USA)) with Dance Hero (Danzero-Gypsy Dancer(NZ)) third. Both minor placegetters were bred in NSW.

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle as well as providing the third placegetter in Race 2 the Emirates Plate. Before Too Long (Belong To Me(USA)-Asian Reef(GB)) bred by Widden Stud scored from Raise a Knight (Strategic-Raise a Million) with Strabane (Rivotious(USA)-Controversial) bred by C & R Thurecht Pty Limited in third place.

A second placing for TBNSW members in Race 3 the listed Brian Crowley Stakes. Legally Bay (Snippets-Decidity) was successful from Freeze (Marscay-Snowdrift(FR)) bred by Stratheden Stud with Sticks ‘n’ Stones (Bigstone(IRE)-Bon Matin) third.

A third placing for TBNSW members in Race 2 the listed Gimcrack Stakes for two-year-old fillies run over 1000 metres. Segments (Mossman-Madam Curie(NZ)) was successful from the NSW bred Rich Megadale (Armidale-Oil Rich) with Mi Chiamo (Catbird-Lady Bureaucrat) bred by Rheinwood Pastoral Company in third position.

TBNSW members were in the winner’s circle when Mimzical saluted in Race 3 the Emirates Handicap. Mimzical (El Moxie(USA)-Beautiful Mimzar) bred by Emirates Park Pty Limited was too good for Bit of Knowledge-Caybria) with Hulachine(NZ)(Tale of the Cat(USA)-It’s Hula Time(NZ)) third.

The highlight on the program was Race 6 the Group 1 Metropolitan Handicap run over 2400 metres and it was a second placing for TBNSW members. TBNSW members were off to a great start when Squad saluted in Race 1 the listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes run over 900 metres for two-year-olds. Squad (Quest for Fame(GB)-Crew) bred by Woodlands Stud was too good for Sanziro (Danzero-Will Fly) with Mochachino (Made of Gold(USA)-Princess Remarco) third.
