It was oh so close! A short head separated the gallant Silent Witness (AUS) from recording his 18th win in succession at Sha Tin on 14 May 2005 in the Group 1 Champions Mile, the first leg of the Asian Mile Challenge series. At his first attempt over the distance, Silent Witness never shirked his task at any stage and was only beaten on the post by his stablemate Bullish Luck, currently the top rated mile runner in Hong Kong. Silent Witness will now go for a much deserved break and Bullish Luck will push onto the second leg of the series the Group 1 Yasuda Kinen in Tokyo on 5 June 2005.

"Black Type" for TBNSW member In New Zealand

When it comes to recording successes in "black type" events there are no boundaries as far as TBNSW members are concerned. The latest "black type" win for a TBNSW member was in the Group 3 Sunline Stakes run at Te Rapa in New Zealand on 30 April 2005 when Savute scored. Savute(NZ) (Danzero(AUS)-Wolf(AUS)) won by 1¼ lengths from Darcybee(NZ) (Fasliyev(USA)-Eminent Walk(NZ)) with Thee Auld Hussie(NZ) (Spinning World USA)-Thee Old Dragon(NZ)) a neck back in third position. Savute (NZ) was bred by TBNSW member Mr G Harvey to whom we extend our congratulations.

Does It Get Any Easier Than This? Silent Witness does it once again !!

Seventeen starts for seventeen wins, that’s the career record of reigning Hong Kong Horse of the Year Silent Witness who was bred by TBNSW member Mr I K Smith of Edinburgh Park Stud. The latest win for Silent Witness was in the Group 2 Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup at Sha Tin on 24 April 2005. Congratulations Ian. The race was a great result for TBNSW members who provided the quinella in the event and indeed for NSW breeders who provided the trifecta in the event. For the record Silent Witness (AUS) (El Moxie(USA)-Jade Tiara) scored, yet again, as he liked but officially by a length and three-quarters from Town of Fionn (AUS) (Snippets-Ballyfin) bred by TBNSW member Mr I Johnson with Planet Ruler (AUS) (Danehill(USA)-Sequenza(IRE)) in third place. Silent Witness who has earned some HK $46,846,900, now heads to the Group 1 Champions Mile over 1600 metres, the first leg of the Asian Mile Challenge and his first time over the distance, on 14 May 2005. Silent Witness has now eclipsed the record of Ribot in Europe and Cigar and Citation in North America of consecutive wins.
