Stakes Haul for Not A Single Doubt

Saturday proved to be a red-letter day for Arrowfield Stud stalwart Not A Single Doubt when the son of Redoute’s Choice sired four stakes winners, and five winners in all, headed by the Gr.1 Caulfield Guineas victor Mighty Boss.

The day began promisingly when his daughter Qafila (Zighy Bay by Tapit) showed dogged determination to take the Listed Debutant Stakes for two-year-olds at Caulfield. Then he made it a quickfire juvenile double shortly after when Legend Of Condor (Rhodamine by Success Express) scored at Randwick before Torvill (Bolero Queen by Iglesia) took the Listed Reginald Allen Quality at the same track.

But success didn’t stop there as Cool Passion (Hiavnna by Mister C.), a mare from his 2011 crop, broke through for her maiden Stakes success with victory in the Gr.3 Northwood Plume Stakes back at Caulfield. Connections could have been forgiven for possibly overlooking Mighty Boss and maybe hoping that either Clearly Innocent or Fell Swoop in The Everest might be the source of his next success, but it would be the 100/1 outsider in the Caulfield Guineas who would give Not A Single Doubt an eighth individual Gr.1 winner taking all the shortcuts to land Australia’s premier mile Classic.

Bred in New South Wales by Cobra Bloodstock, Mighty Boss races in the colours of Muzaffar Yaseen’s Teeley Assets, the same silks sported by his grandsire Redoute’s Choice when winning the Guineas back in 1999. Saturday’s winner is out of Bullion Mansion, a daughter of Encosta De Lago and La Volta winner of the Gr.1 Australasian Oaks.
