HORSE BRED BY A TBNSW MEMBER

2006/2007 SEASON

Congratulations to TBNSW member Gooree Park Stud , on the efforts of Desert War who was the Best Performed Horse bred by a TBNSW member (metropolitan racing) for the 2006/2007 season.

Desert War (Desert King(IRE)-High Heels) faced the starter 14 times in the 2006/2007 season recording 5 wins (including three Group 1s and two Group 2s), 2 second placings (both at Group 1 level) and 3 third placings (one at Group 1 level and two at Group 2 level).

Desert War was successful at Group 1 level three times in the 2006/2007 season in the:

• VRC Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington on 4 November 2006;

• STC Ranvet Stakes at Rosehill Gardens on 17 March 2007; and

• AJC Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Randwick on 14 April 2007.

Desert War also recorded two wins at Group 2 level during the season in the:

• STC Hill Stakes at Rosehill Gardens on 23 September 2006; and

• STC Apollo Stakes at Rosehill Gardens on 17 February 2007

During the season, Desert War also finished runner-up on two occasions at Group 1 level in the:

• AJC Epsom Handicap at Royal Randwick on 7 October 2006; and the

• AJC Chipping Norton Stakes at Warwick Farm on 3 March 2007

as well as recording three third placings in the:

• Group 1 AJC George Main Stakes at Royal Randwick on 30 September 2006;

• Group 2 AJC Warwick Stakes at Royal Randwick on 26 August 2006; and

• Group 2 GCTC Hollindale Stakes at the Gold Coast on 5 May 2007.

The career record for Desert War stands at 12 wins (including 6 at Group 1 level, 3 at Group 2 level and a Listed Race), 2 second placings and 8 third placings from 40 race starts with $2,964,610 in prizemoney.
