SO NEAR YET SO FAR

FOR TAKEOVER TARGET

IN THE GROUP 1

GOLDEN JUBILEE STAKES

Our wonderful sprinting Champion Takeover Target was oh so close to recording Australia’s second win during the Royal Ascot meeting when beaten by a bob of the head in the Group 1 Golden Jubilee Stakes on 23 June 2007.

Bred by TBNSW member Meringo Stud Farm , Takeover Target (Celtic Swing(GB)-Shady Stream) was just pipped on the post by Soldier’s Tale (USA) (Stravinsky(USA)-Myrtle(GB)) with Asset (IRE) (Marju(IRE)-Snow Peak (GB)) in third position.

Takeover Target was backing up after a very good fourth in the Group 2 King’s Stand Stakes earlier in the week won by compatriot Miss Andretti. Our hearty congratulations to all the team associated with Takeover Target who has proven yet again his class on the international arena.

The next "mission" for Takeover Target will be a much deserved break back on home soil before embarking on a Spring Carnival campaign and perhaps another trip to Royal Ascot in 2008.

For the record, Takeover Target has now recorded 14 wins (ten at black type level and five at Group 1 level), 4 second placings and 3 third placings from 28 race starts and has accumulated in excess of $4.3 million in prizemoney to date.
