Exceedance (Exceed and Excel x Bonnie Mac {NZ}) retired to stud at Vinery Stud in 2020 following a high-class racing career highlighted by a 3YO G1 victory in the VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes. He won on debut at two before claiming the G3 San Domenico Stakes at his third start. From his nine-start career, Exceedance finished with three wins and three placings, and prizemoney over $1.18 million.
Since commencing stud duties, Exceedance has fired onto the scene. Across three crops, he has had 133 progeny to race, with 77 winners (a 57.9% winners-to-runners strike rate) across Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and the Philippines. Forty-four of those winners have come just this season. In total, he has earned in excess of A$7 million, with five stakes winners and five stakes placegetters to date.
His standout performers include Dance to the Boom (multiple winner, including the G3 VRC HKJC S. and L. Gosford Guineas), Dublin Down (dual G3 winner), Flyer (G3 David Coles AM S.), Pure Excess (G3 WATC Champion Fillies S.), and Swiftfalcon (L. Dulcify S.; G1-placed).
Vinery Stud has a long-established reputation as one of Australia’s premier breeding operations, and breeders know they can rely on consistent results both on the track and in the sales ring. Standing this son of an outstanding sire in Exceed and Excel, and with a strong buyer interest from the outset, Exceedance will be a key contributor to that ongoing success.
