*STILL LOOKING* Bowness Stud & Watershed Farm is seeking a dedicated and passionate Foaling Attendant to join our team for the upcoming foaling season (start 21st July 2025 through to mid to end of November 2025). Ongoing employment may be provided beyond November 2025.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced and dynamic thoroughbred breeding operation, where you will gain hands-on experience and develop a broad range of equine skills while assisting in the safe arrival of the next generation of racehorses.
Role Responsibilities:
Monitor foaling alarms and oversee pregnant mares on a nightly basis.
Provide immediate post-foaling care, including necessary treatments for the mare and neonatal care for the foal.
Maintain accurate records of foalings, treatments, and any health observations.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience in foaling and neonatal care preferred but not essential—training can be provided for the right candidate however it is essential to have extensive horse handling experience.
A strong sense of responsibility, patience, and attention to detail.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends on a rotating roster.
A team player with a genuine passion for horse care and welfare.

This role is for people with extensive, hands-on experience handling young, unbroken horses, particularly those with a background in the breeding, racing or performance industry.
The role includes:
Assisting with the upcoming breeding season - foaling, vet work, care of broodmares and foals;
Educating and handling well-bred, unbroken weanlings and yearlings
Leading, grooming, and preparing horses for sales and inspections
General horse care, feeding, maintenance and farm duties
Ideal to have:
Strong horse handling experience – especially with young or green horses
The ability to work safely, calmly, and confidently around valuable livestock
A proactive, hardworking attitude and willingness to help across all areas of the farm
Good communication, honesty and teamwork skills
