Stallion of the Month: D’Argento

D’Argento has made an encouraging start to his stud career at Bowness Stud, emerging as a promising young son of champion sire So You Think.

A high-class performer for Chris Waller, the grey won four races and more than $1.1M from just 14 starts. His career highlight came in the G1 Rosehill Guineas, where he defeated a strong field. He also performed with distinction against horses such as Hartnell and Winx.

D’Argento earned a rating of 116 in the World Thoroughbred Rankings. He is out of the Listed-winning Redoute’s Choice mare Fullazz and descends from a deep international black-type family.

His first crops have produced 60 individual winners to date, including nine stakes performers. Among them is Listed Galilee Series Final winner Statuario, who was also runner-up in the G1 South Australian Derby. Other notable performers include Sequista, Silver Dagger, and Silva ’n’ Suave.

With progeny earnings approaching $6 million and winners ranging from 900m to 2400m, D’Argento’s offspring are already demonstrating versatility and toughness. His yearlings have sold for up to $300,000, while breeders continue to respond positively to the scope and athleticism of his stock.

Bowness Stud will offer 12 yearlings by D’Argento at June’s Magic Millions National Yearling Sale. D’Argento stands for $16,500 inc GST in 2026.
