Despite retiring from stud duties in 2023, Deep Field continues to assert his influence on the racetrack.
As the most expensive yearling sold at public auction from the first crop of the ill-fated Northern Meteor, Deep Field was a high-class racehorse, winning five of his eight starts, and only finishing out of the top three on one occasion.
Retired to Newgate Farm in 2015, Deep Field has sired more than 40 stakes winners worldwide and earned three Champion Hong Kong Sire (by earnings and winners) titles. He is currently ranked inside the top 10 on both the 4YO Sires and 1200m & Shorter Sires tables. With his last season at stud in 2022, his final yearling crop went through sales rings this year.
Hong Kong’s six-time Group 1 winner Voyage Bubble (ex Raheights) stands as his headline performer, with victories including back-to-back wins in Sunday’s G1 Hong Kong Mile. He is also only the second horse in Hong Kong history to win the Triple Crown of the G1 Steward’s Cup, G1 Hong Kong Gold Cup, and G1 Champion and Chater Cup for trainer Ricky Yiu.
Voyage Bubble was bred and sold by Torryburn Stud for $380,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
Other stakes performers by Deep Field include Cosmic Force, Depth of Character, Howdeepisyourlove, High Octane, Al Muthana, Portland Sky, and Isotope.
Deep Field’s influence remains firmly entrenched through his current runners and emerging performers, keeping him a relevant name for breeders.
