Thoroughly Schooled 2026 concluded in early September with an outstanding group of 13 high school students from Years 10 to 12, selected from a highly competitive applicant pool of 118 students.
Participants travelled from across New South Wales, including Forbes, Blayney, Holbrook, Central Coast, Hunter Valley, Newcastle, Glen Innes, Gunnedah and Inverell to take part in the five-day immersive program.
Delivered in partnership with HTBA, Thoroughbred Breeders NSW, Racing NSW, Team Thoroughbred NSW Training Academy, and Training Services NSW, Thoroughly Schooled is an educational and career development initiative designed to introduce young people to the thoroughbred racing and breeding industry.
The program combines classroom learning with practical, hands-on experiences, providing valuable insight into horse care, breeding, training, & racing, stable management, and the business operations that underpin the industry.
Through industry placements, site visits, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities, students gained firsthand exposure to a range of career pathways within the thoroughbred sector. We extend our sincere thanks to our industry hosts, whose support enabled participants to experience the industry during one of its busiest and most exciting times of the year.
Thoroughly Schooled continues to inspire the next generation of industry professionals by connecting passionate young people with leading employers and experienced mentors, helping them explore future career opportunities and build a strong foundation for success within the global thoroughbred industry.
