Cressfield is a boutique Broodmare Farm 10 mins north of the Australia's Horse Capital, Scone. Specialising in the unique and individualised care of approximately 60 broodmares throughout the breeding season, Cressfield are now seeking an experienced horse person to fill the role of Night Watch Foaling Attendant.
Commencing mid-July, and running to early November, the Foal watch Attendant will be required to work 12 hr shifts following a roster of 7 nights on, 7 nights off.
This role will be well supported by on farm management.
* Monitoring mares for impending signs of foaling
* Assist with foaling
* Provide supportive care for mare and foal post foaling
* Recognise emergency situations and call appropriate personnel for assistance
* Feed mares and foals in the foaling area, pick up stables and monitor nearby stock
* Keep accurate foaling records and communicate well with staff at changeover.
* Ability to administer IM injections and oral medications.
* Solid foaling experience and confident to foal down
* Ability to work calmly and quietly under pressure
* Good horsemanship skills
* Ability to recognise an abnormal foaling, call appropriate people for help and take necessary first steps to mitigate the situation at hand.

The roles are full time, and the successful applicant will work with either stallions, broodmares, foals, young stock and/or yearlings. We are looking for a motivated, determined & experienced individual who has professional horse stud experience.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of industry best practice, with either international experience or a thorough understanding of the global trends of the thoroughbred industry.

o Monitoring mare ovulation and pregnancy
o Taking a leadership role and supervision of junior staff

Duties will include:
o Training and preparing horses for major sales
o Educating horses to be groomed and accept bridle, head collar, rug etc.
o Teaching horses to walk, stand and parade correctly
o Parade and caring for horses at sales
o Overseeing daily care and supervision of horses
o Re-educating horses to resolve problems such as biting and kicking Essential Skills:
All applicants must have a minimum of 3-years full time professional experience in the role or a relevant qualification and at least 2 years full time professional experience in the role.
In addition, the following will be required:
• Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred breeding
• Proven ability to train and educate young horses
• Proven as reliable workers, with excellent horsemanship skills
• Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
