Thoroughly Schooled is an introductory discovery program designed to give students a hands-on insight into the Thoroughbred horse industry. TBNSW partners with the HTBA, Training Services NSW, and Racing NSW to deliver this program each year to students in Years 10–12.
Held in September, the program features a week-long camp offering full immersion into the racing and breeding sectors. Students from across NSW take part, gaining practical experience on stud farms and in racing stables, attending race days, and visiting Scone Equine Hospital.
Throughout the program, participants explore a wide range of career opportunities within the industry, with a particular focus on breeding, racing, and equine veterinary nursing. They also complete practical training at the Hunter Valley Thoroughbred Centre of Excellence, Scone Campus, earning racing and breeding inductions while discovering various education and career pathways.
