The Australian broodmare sales landscape continues to evolve, with both Magic Millions and Inglis adapting to changing dynamics while maintaining a strong focus on quality.
Magic Millions will present a streamlined catalogue for its National Broodmare Sale on 26-27 May. The catalogue offers 374 lots, down from 524 lots in 2025, but despite the reduction, standards remain exceptional, with approximately 40% of the Day 1 catalogue made of stakes winners or stakes-performed mares.
Among the highlights are Group 1 winners Captured By Love, Legarto, Quintessa, and Vibrant Sun, alongside proven producers and mares in foal to leading commercial sires. The sale continues to attract buyers seeking top-tier bloodstock and is perfectly timed to coincide with the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival.
Meanwhile, Inglis has taken a progressive step in 2026, transitioning its main Australian Broodmare Sale to a digital format. The April online sale has now concluded, while the May Early session (8-13 May) will follow a similar structure, where broodmares and race fillies close a day after the general sale categories. This move reflects the growing influence of online platforms and offers greater flexibility for both vendors and buyers.
The Chairman’s Sale (7 May) and Australian Weanling Sale (5-6 May) continue to be held at Riverside, with the Chairman’s Sale again reinforcing its reputation as one of the most prestigious sales on the calendar, with 115 elite lots.
The catalogue includes G1 Goodwood Handicap winner Benedetta, triple G1 winner Provence, millionaire mare Arabian Summer, G2 Reisling Stakes winner Chayan, dual Group-placed mare Vestas, and Flamboyant Lass, the dam of G1 Golden Slipper winner Guest House.
Across all formats, these sales ensure vendors and buyers have multiple avenues to engage in an increasingly dynamic bloodstock market. We wish everyone the best of luck!
