We have an exciting full-time position vacant for an enthusiastic, dedicated & highly skilled horse person to join our team in a 2IC/Senior Stud Hand role. We are looking for someone wanting to step up to a 2IC role and progress their career. You will work closely with our stud manager and will be provided on the job mentoring and training, assisting you to gain new skills along the way.
• Undertaking general farm and stable duties including feeding and checking of horses, cleaning stables and yards
• Assisting the Stud Manager with day-to-day general farm duties
• Assisting vets and farriers
• Education of young horses, weanling and yearling preparation for major sales
• Pre and post-natal care of broodmares and foals – including foaling down
• Prior stud experience working with thoroughbreds
• Willingness to learn and a keen interest in all aspects of stud work; care for broodmares, foals, weanlings, yearlings and racehorse spellers.
• The ability to work in a small team environment and to work unsupervised
• A strong work ethic, self-motivation, keen eye for detail and a passion for working with horses
• Driver’s License
