*POSITION FILLED*
A new position is available for a Senior Stud Hand and Staff Training role at Bowness Stud & Watershed Farm, located near Young, NSW 2594 Australia.
The role involves overseeing, accompanying and training stud and stable staff in basic tasks such as the feed run, drenching, treating, identifying injuries, catching and moving horses, teaching how to identify horses from paddock lists, keeping records, checking horses off paddock lists, ensuring tasks are done properly, safely and also to build the confidence and competency of the stud workers.
The role is to ensure treatments and other instructions are followed correctly, the day sheet is filled in correctly, complete staff inductions and staff assessment and the overall organisation/reporting of day to day tasks outside the barn.
It does require someone who is a team player, a people person, has patience & leadership skills, kindness and very good teaching skills, along with extensive past horse experience. The role does involve doing the horse work with the stud and stable staff to build competency across the farm.
Applicant must have current working rights in Australia and be looking for long term work. We are regional Australia so qualify for 2nd & 3rd working holiday visas. Excellent English speaking & listening skills are essential.

Widden Stud Australia located in the Hunter Valley, NSW and also in Riddells Creek, Victoria currently accepting applicants full-time for the role of Horse Trainer/Breeding and Horse Trainer/Yearlings.
The roles are full time, and the successful applicant will work with either stallions, broodmares, foals, young stock and/or yearlings. We are looking for a motivated, determined & experienced individual who has professional horse stud experience.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of industry best practice, with either international experience or a thorough understanding of the global trends of the thoroughbred industry.

o Assisting Veterinarians with ultrasound/reproduction examination including assisting in birthing foals and administering medical treatment to foals
o Monitoring mare ovulation and pregnancy
o Taking a leadership role and supervision of junior staff
Horse Trainer/Breeding - Yearlings
Duties will include:
o Training and preparing horses for major sales
o Educating horses to be groomed and accept bridle, head collar, rug etc.
o Teaching horses to walk, stand and parade correctly
o Parade and caring for horses at sales
o Overseeing daily care and supervision of horses
o Re-educating horses to resolve problems such as biting and kicking Essential Skills:
All applicants must have a minimum of 3-years full time professional experience in the role or a relevant qualification and at least 2 years full time professional experience in the role.
In addition, the following will be required:
• Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred breeding
• Proven ability to train and educate young horses
• Proven as reliable workers, with excellent horsemanship skills
• Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
