An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and confident Stallion Handler to join one of Australia’s leading Standardbred breeding operations based in Cobbitty, NSW for the upcoming 2026 breeding season. This is a hands-on role working with elite stallions within a professional and fast-paced team environment. The Role
The successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of stallion care and breeding barn duties, including:
Leading, handling and caring for stallions during daily routines and breeding procedures
Assisting with semen collection and processing
Feeding, grooming and general horse husbandry
Monitoring stallion health and behaviour and reporting concerns
Assisting with veterinary and farrier work
Cleaning and maintaining stalls, yards and breeding facilities
Presenting and parading stallions for clients and visitors
Assisting with teasing and general stud duties as required About You
We are looking for someone who:
Has previous experience handling stallions and assisting with semen collection procedures, including preparation and handling of the AV during collection
Is calm, confident and safety-focused around horses
Works well within a team and communicates clearly
Is reliable, punctual and takes pride in their work
Has a strong work ethic and genuine care for horse welfare
Is physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Can remain composed and observant in a busy breeding season environment
Additional skills such as driving a manual ute, operating farm bikes or assisting with general farm maintenance will be viewed favourably.

Position Details
Seasonal position commencing August 2026
Opportunity for the role to extend into a permanent position for the right candidate

This position would ideally suit a driven person wishing to further their experience in the industry with a goal of learning all facets of the day to day running of a professionally run broodmare farm. Being part of a team looking after all classes of horses from broodmares , yearlings and foals.
Daily care of horses and all tasks involved.
Handling horses calmly and confidently.
Assisting with foaling, broodmare reproduction procedures and yearling preparation.
Monitoring horses health and behaviour
Applying basic horse care treatments.
Supporting Veterinary and Farrier visits.
Following all work place and Safety procedures.
Taking pride in presentation of both horses and the property.

Horse care and handling experience, preferably with thoroughbreds.
Positive attitude, a strong work ethic and a genuine love of horses and the industry.
Reliability with good communication skills.
A team player who can also show initiative and work independently.
While we do welcome overseas applicants we do require applicants to have a current Australian work visa.
